Mercato Centrale

Food

Florence's main central market is an enormous iron structure in the middle of the San Lorenzo nieghbourhood. Selling produce on two different levels, you can find everything here to prepare a full Tuscan feast. A sensory delight.

Il Mercato di San Lorenzo

Leather, clothing, souvenirs

Lines of bancorelle surround the indoor food market. Good deals can be had on leather and some other clothing items, but the majority is tourist fair.

Sant'Ambrogio

Food, Clothing, Household

Fantastic fresh food market, specialising in meat and fish. The chef's choice in Florence, this market is a real treat. Farmers sell fresh fruit and veg outside, alongside cheap clothing and some household items.

Mercarto delle Cascine

Clothing, Household, Food

Running along the Arno alongside the Parco delle Cascine, this is the place to get your hands on cut-price clothing. Much of it made up the road in Prato, the style and quality may be variable but the prices can't be argued with. You'll also find everything you need for your house and some electronics, toys and deli foods.

Il Mercarto del Porcellino

Leather, Souvenirs

This ancient market is named for the famous bronze statue of a boar on its edge. Legend has it that if you put a coin in its mouth and rub its nose you will return to Florence. Give a few more coins and you can leave with a novelty t-shirt or a leather jacket. Strictly for tourists.

A daily flea market where you can spend hours looking through the variety of stalls and maybe uncover a gem.
