Quick Guide to Work Permits & Visas
By Administrator 03.19.07

Basically, any citizen of full European Member countries can live and work here with no Visa or work permit. All you need is to be in posession of a valid EU passport, and registered with the Carabinieri. There are no limitations to renting accommodation or entering the labour market. For a full list of these countries click here.

Visa requirements vary both on country of origin and purpose of visit. Click here to link to the relevant page of the Ministrio degli Affari Esteri (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) website.

Note that when looking for a work Visa, they are divided into three categories; Self-employed, Subordinate employment and specific business functions.

Italy is a member of the Schengen agreement and the relevant travel rules apply. For full details about the Schengen Visa System and how it applies to you, click here

Full information for US citizens can be found here

For some more information about obtaining work permits and Visas click here and here.
